Although our route is taking place in the barren lands of northern Quebec, the land is far from devoid of plant life. The tundra hides
pockets of stunted trees, and contains a magic show of wildflowers and groundcover. Our expedition coincided with the blooming of
many of the regions flowers. In many places the ground is covered with a tight carpet like thatch of moss and other vegetation not
growing more than a few centimeters tall. Caribou Lichen is also found almost everywhere. At the start of the trip the river banks grew
dense with alder bushes growing between one and six feet tall. As we made our way farther north the size of the alders diminished
until they disappeared entirely.
